How To Explode Your Results As An Expo Exhibitor

There are some real advantages to exhibiting at business expos & trade shows – the most obvious one being the potential to generate sales on the day.

However, there are many other advantages and, unfortunately, not everyone prepares themselves well enough to make these other advantages really work for them.

Those advantages include:

The ability to grow your business network by introducing yourself to like minded business people and engaging in conversation with them

To catch up on current business trends through participating in presentations, talks and workshops during the event

To generate leads for potential customers and future sales

To generate leads for potential customers and future sales

In this brief article, we are going to expand on that last point  - generation of leads for potential customers and future sales.

All too often we hear from business owners that they didn’t generate the amount of sales they were hoping for at the event the exhibited at. This can be due to a number of factors but the biggest one by far is that they did not understand how to take full advantage of their time at the event.

Here’s the thing – at B2B events especially (but also at B2C events), not everyone is in a “Buying” frame of mind. In fact, research tells us that less than 10% of visitors are ready to make a purchase on the spot. The remaining 90% are there to gather information!

So, where do you think you can make the most impact – with the 10% ready to buy now or the 90% ready to buy later?

By all means, if someone is ready to buy, sell to them!

But if they’re looking for information, establish a relationship with them – and the best way to do that at an expo or trade show is to demonstrate your knowledge and expertise in terms that mean something to those people in the 90% group.

This involves you having a relationship building “funnel” that will continue your conversation with each potential customer, automatically, until the are ready to make a purchase.

Precisely how you do that is the subject of another article but it is something we go into more detail on with our Expo Exhibitors in our “Pre Expo Exhibitor Workshops” – they’re free and are held online.

Do you hear small business owners say, “I can’t take time off”, and “don’t you know how hard it is to get good staff?”. To answer the last question, no, I don’t know what that is like. Why?...
